My clients own land at Cold Overton Road/Hilltop Drive/Redland Road in Oakham which has been submitted as a planning application for a 100% affordable housing scheme. The application has been refused for a number of largely technical reasons. My client is seeking to work with the Council to resolve the objections and bring forward a scheme which will assist with the considerable affordability problem that that persists in Rutland.

The suggested land allocations in the Plan are noted and whilst it is appreciated that there is a new allocation in Oakham at Stamford Road, the overall provision is heavily reliant on development at Uppingham, a much smaller settlement with considerably less services and facilities. In addition, as there is a train station at Oakham, this location is more sustainable in relation to the use of non-car modes.
