Policy SC4– Pollution control
Representation ID: 6774
Received: 05/01/2024
Respondent: Barrowden Parish Council
This Policy is inadequate in respect of light pollution. Specific criteria needs to be set, especially in rural communities to protect wildlife such as bats, moths, etc about the style, luminosity and time lights are on.
Agree, add a section on control of light pollution.

Policy EN8 Important open space and frontages
Representation ID: 6775
Received: 05/01/2024
Respondent: Barrowden Parish Council
We would ask that this Policy has a higher level of protection for Important Open Spaces or Frontages for Conservation Areas.
The Policy lists the criteria that must be adhered to, to ensure any proposed development is appropriate and will not have an adverse impact upon the designated area. Important Open Spaces located within a Conservation Area will be subject to the Conservation Area policies therefore the policy doesn't need amendments specific to Conservation Areas.

We would ask that more guidance is provided as to what “appropriate” might mean.
Response noted.
Where the policy states 'where appropriate' this would be defined on a case-by-case basis.

We would support a review of the Conservation Area in Barrowden as there are a number of parts of the village where it is not appropriate to have them so designated.

Appendix 5 – Parking Standards
Representation ID: 6779
Received: 05/01/2024
Respondent: Barrowden Parish Council
We would ask that parking requirements for 6 room houses be increased to 3 allocated spaces and 8 room houses be increased to 4 spaces both excluding garages if no other external storage is provided for cycles, mowers, etc.
Noted. The minimum size for garages has been set to allow for the storage of bicycles, etc. The increase for 6 roomed houses to 3 parking spaces and for 8 roomed houses to 4 parking spaces can be considered further, following another review and comparison exercise with other authorities requirements.
