The current PLD for Braunston should be maintained and not extended along Knossington Road
PLDs have been ignored by RCC and appear to carry little weight when planing decisions are made. The geography of Braunston is not conducive to anything other than small scale brownfield site, or individual infill development. A limited should be set on the number of new houses for Large Villages (Braunston was previously classified as a Restraint/Small Village) ie development should not exceed more than 5% of the existing dwellings

In all of the designated larger villages there should be direct, meaningful and sustained engagement with the Parish Council regarding any development proposals. The revised NPPF (December 2023) places emphasis on planning judgement and the Parish Council is ideally placed to provide information to help inform decision making
The same would apply to proposed development in smaller villages
Moving forward, planning judgement will be vital. It should not be replaced by blanket policies that will not cover every circumstance. All planning applications should be assessed on their individual merits, with input from the local community

There has been no consultation with the Parish Council concerning the proposed changes to the PLD. The Parish Council was not involved in the assessment exercise, or aware of it. RCC should be working with communities to ensure "the right houses are built in the right places" and that the strategic objectives of the revised NPPF are adhered to

Support Braunston being a larger Settlement, does require changes to PLD.
Small site on Knossington Road is proposed and the Planned Limits of Development for Braunston-in-Rutland should be amended to include it. The site is located within the built up area of a sustainable settlement, and would be acceptable for development of 2 houses under policy SS4 if the village were classed as a smaller village without a PLD, but would not be acceptable under policy SS1.
