Policy E9 – Caravans, camping, lodges, log cabins, chalets and similar forms of self-serviced holiday accommodation
Representation ID: 5430
Received: 04/01/2024
Respondent: North Luffenham Parish Council
This seems unnecessarily restrictive in an area Rutland is expanding in (Tourism, Farm diversification) encouraging people to holiday in the UK reduces carbon footprint from overseas holidays and brings revenue into the area. Tourism brings approximately £160 million in revenue into Rutland, and presumably this makes it one of the biggest industries and it should be supported appropriately. Campsites and Lodge accommodation are entry level investments enabling farm diversity etc and should be encouraged.
Noted. Self-serviced holiday accommodation, including campsites and lodges are recognised as an important contributor to the visitor economy and tourism more widely.
Given the considerable demand for these types of facilities they can have a major impact on the local environment, visual amenity and on levels of car usage in the local area. Hence the why this policy seeks to minimises its impact on the landscape, the environment and surrounding uses.

"Planning permission will only be granted if the proposal provides evidence that it has been subject to adequate consideration of the impact of the development on any existing trees and woodland found on-site and on any trees off site which are visible from the site"
How is "Visible from the site" defined, many developments can see whole areas of woodland from their location
