There are already a number of campsites within the county
This provision is excessive
Have the number of private rentals such as Airbnbs been considered in this provision? There are a large number of apps and sites like Airbnb which enable private home owners to rent their space - has this provision been considered?

"MATU, from interaction with families, are of the view that much of the identified need for plots for Showpeople are
from family members who are not intending to join the family business" P108
Surely they will then not be Showpeople if they are not in the family business

The stated target number of 16 pitches for travellers and gypsies is unrealistic. There are more than that number of travellers encamped on Tambourine Lane, Ashwell , on the public bridleway now, let alone others currently in the County or others wishing to join them.

There is currently inconsistency in the wording used within the Plan, as emerging Policy H10 refers to an Action Plan, which is inconsistent with other draft policies in the Plan. For completeness, the DIO believe that the reference to an Action Plan Development Plan document should be removed from this policy. The DIO request that a consistent approach is adopted by the Council to future development at St George’s Barracks.

Respondent: Edith Weston Parish Council
The Rutland County Council, Gypsy, Traveller, and Travelling Show People Accommodation Assessment (GTTSAA), March 2023 states in Paragraph 5.18:
“There have been discussions and plans about turning St George’s Barracks into a new settlement and Gypsies and Travellers were being considered in the development. However, that idea was axed due to a failure to agree the plans. A new Local Plan is currently being prepared.”
There has been no contact with Edith Weston Parish Council to discuss this issue since March 2023. Inclusion of this site in Policy H10 has not been evidenced. The reference to St George’s Barracks should be removed from the policy.

Policy should ensure that the designated areas are proportionate to the infrastructure available in the proposed village / town. Consideration should also be given to the high proportion of existing sites in neighbouring counties.
