Regulation 18 draft Local Plan

Representation ID: 5893

Received: 07/01/2024

Respondent: Ms Maureen Burns

Representation Summary:

This is a very important objective. The statement lacks substance and detail. Why?
Which communities are identified as those most in need of support? Which groups are most at risk?
What does inclusive mean in this context?
RCC needs to promote diversity in its own make-up so that it can better identify with the needs of the communities it seeks to serve.

Our response:

Comments and support noted. Certain policies in the Local Plan, such as those promoting good quality design and requiring the provision of affordable housing, would help to achieve this Strategic Objective. Polices H4 and H7 also seek to ensure that a range of housing needs are met in new development in terms of size and tenure to bring about more inclusive communities.

Does any form of community development strategy exist

Our response:

Question noted. The Spatial Strategy, at the heart of the Local Plan, sets out how growth will be managed across the county in terms of quantity and location of new development.

Respondent: Mr Cristian Durant

Representation Summary:

Our client supports this objective. Proportionate growth of three dwellings to the small village of Whitwell as is proposed in the appeal application would enhance community cohesion and would not detract from the objective of increased safety or inclusivity.

Our response:

Support of the Strategic Objective noted.
