Kendrew Barracks at Cottesmore and HMP Stocken all contain sports facilities including playing fields which should not be built on as laid out in paragraph 103 of the NPPF (2023). Community use of the sports facilities at Kendrew Barracks are included in Rutland’s Playing Pitch Strategy (2024) along with the need for their protection. Wording should be inserted into one of the exceptions listed in Policy SS5 on the need to protect these existing sports facilities including playing fields as part of any redevelopment scheme planned.
